LABOR are demanding a new voluntary blood testing system be rolled out in a Territory town affected by toxic firefighting chemicals.

NT Senator Malarndirri McCarthy reignited calls for such a program to be rolled out in Katherine.

Ms McCarthy said she was not surprised people felt ignored.

Like so many of the PFAS contamination issues, the government remains silent, she said.

That silence is creating anxiety, fear and uncertainty right around the country.

Labor has called on the Turnbull Government to expand its program of voluntary blood testing from Williamtown and Oakey to all affected 18 Defence sites.
